Mental health professionals experienced working in high-conflict divorce will learn about OCB’s unique psycho-educational and experiential skills-building curriculum. Didactic web-based seminars are the first part of this training and will occur in Spring of 2020 leading up to the Family Camp. In the second part of the program trainees will attend Family Camp where they will work day and night with Dr. Leslie Drozd observing and analyzing groups, camp activities and family interventions.
Family Camp Immersion Training 2020 – Details
Spring/Early Summer 2020 Web-Based Seminars & Pre-camp reading
The web-based seminars will include live webinars with some of the camp Clinical Team and pre-recorded video lectures presented by Drs. Robin Deutsch, Peggie Ward, Matthew Sullivan, and others, and a question/answer video conference after camp. There will also be assignments of relevant readings on the topic of high-conflict divorce and parent-child contact problems.

*The categories “aligned” and “unaligned” are not always satisfactory in describing parents’ roles and are used here to give a general idea of the topic to be discussed.

- Overcoming the Coparenting Trap: Essential Parenting Skills when a Child Resists a Parent. (2015) by Dr. John Moran, Tyler Sullivan and Dr. Matt Sullivan (The parents attending family camp are expected to read this also) We will send you this book to keep in your library.
- Suggested: If you are a member of AFCC, the Spring 2020 issue of The Family Court Review is focused on Alienation.
2) ONLINE COURSE: In addition; it is strongly suggested that the best way to get the most out of immersion at camp is to also complete the William James online course: High Conflict Coparenting: Interventions for Children’s Alignment and Resistance. You can learn more here. (A large part of the 28 CE hours received for the online course is for reading the Overcoming Parent-Child Contact Problems publication which is already a requirement for camp)

2020 High-Conflict Camp Immersion
Dates for program immersion in Vermont:
Trainees should arrive at camp by 3:00 on Sunday July 5th and can leave late on July 12th.
**Do not make travel plans until confirmed with OCB staff.
Cost
$3,500 per participant includes web-based seminars & Family Camp immersion/training by Training Staff at Common Ground Center in Vermont. It also includes transportation to and from Burlington, Vermont airport, and food and lodging at Common Ground. (Travel to and from Vermont not included).

Training Team includes:
Leslie Drozd, Ph.D. Camp Training Director
Dr. Drozd is a licensed psychologist and marriage, family, and child therapist and works clinically with families in the various stages of divorce including coparenting therapy, family for cases with parent-child contact challenges, and parent coordination.
Her forensic practice includes that she has has been a child custody evaluator for over 30 years, trains other evaluators, serves as a consultant to attorneys, and as a testifying expert in family law matters. She helped write the Association of Family Conciliation Courts Model Standards for conducting child custody evaluations (2006) and guidelines for parenting plan evaluations involving allegations of domestic violence (2016).
She has written a myriad of peer-reviewed articles including Is It Abuse, Alienation, and/or Estrangement (2004), Adaptive and Maladaptive Gatekeeping Behaviors and Attitudes: Implications for Child Outcomes After Separation and Divorce (2017), and one due for release in April 2020 in Family Court Review: Trauma-Sensitive/Informed Interventions When Children Resist Contact with Drs. Deutsch and Ajoku and one due to be published in July 2020: Intimate Partner Violence & Parenting Coordination: Risks & Benefits with Dr. Deutsch & Attorney Donner.
Dr. Drozd was the founding editor of the peer-reviewed international Journal of Child Custody (2004-2013), is currently on the editorial board of FCR, has co-edited books on relocation, psychological testing, and child sexual abuse, and has written chapters on domestic violence, treatment of trauma, alienation, step-up parenting plans, and family therapy with families in which a child resists or refuses contact including a Professional Resource Press Book, Parenting Plan & Child Custody Evaluations: Using Decision Trees to Increase Evaluator Competence & Avoid Preventable Errors (2013) and Oxford University Press books, Parenting Evaluations: Applied Research for Family Court (2012 & 2016). She received the Association of Family and Conciliation Court’s John E. Van Duzer distinguished service award in 2013.
