Mental health professionals experienced working in high-conflict divorce will learn about OCB’s unique psycho-educational and experiential skills building curriculum. Didactic web-based seminars are the first part of this training and will occur in Spring of 2019 leading up to the Family Camp. In the second part of the program trainees will attend Family Camp where they will work day and night with Drs. Abigail Judge and Leslie Drozd observing and analyzing groups, camp activities and family interventions.
Family Camp Immersion Training 2019 – Details
Spring/Early Summer 2019 Web-Based Seminars & Pre-camp reading
The web-based seminars will include live webinars with some of the camp Clinical Team and pre-recorded video lectures presented by Drs. Robin Deutsch, Peggie Ward and Matthew Sullivan and others, and a question/answer video conference after camp. There will also be assignments of relevant readings on the topic of high-conflict divorce.
Video lecture topics may include:
- Introduction to Camp and The Milieu (OCB Staff) – Live
- Intake Process (Dr. Jack Moran)
- Complexities of the Families (Dr. Ward)
- The “West” Group – the unaligned* parent group (Dr. Sullivan)
- The “East” Group – the aligned* parent group (Dr. Ward)
- The “Common Ground” Group – the children’s group (Dr. Deutsch)
- Mini Interventions (Dr. Deutsch)

2019 High-Conflict Camp Immersion
Dates for program immersion in Vermont:
Trainees should arrive at camp by 3:00 on Sunday July 7th and can leave late on July 13th but preferably early on July 14th. Transportation to and from the Burlington Vermont airport is provided. Food and lodging at camp are also provided. Transportation to and from Vermont is not included. Do not make travel plans until confirmed with OCB staff.
The schedule for the Immersion Training is:
- Sunday: Arrival, meetings and live training
- Monday-Saturday: Regular schedule for camp
- Saturday ad Sunday: Debriefing, discussion of programs moving forward and departure
- Families arrive and depart July 8 – July 13, 2019
Cost
$3,500 per participant includes web-based seminars & Family Camp immersion/training by Training Staff at Common Ground Center in Vermont. It also includes transportation to and from Burlington, Vermont airport, and food and lodging at Common Ground. (Travel to and from Vermont not included).

Training Team includes:
Leslie Drozd, Ph.D. Camp Training Staff
Dr. Drozd is a licensed psychologist and marriage, family, and child therapist and works clinically with families in the various stages of divorce including coparenting therapy, family therapy, reintegration therapy, and parent coordination.
She has been a child custody evaluator for over 25 years, trains other evaluators, serves as a consultant to attorneys, and as a testifying expert in family law matters. She helped write the Association of Family Conciliation Courts Model Standards for conducting child custody evaluations (2006) and guidelines for parenting plan evaluations involving allegations of domestic violence (2016). She has written a myriad of peer-reviewed articles including Is It Abuse, Alienation, and/or Estrangement (2004) and one due to be released next month in Family Court Review, Adaptive and Maladaptive Gatekeeping Behaviors and Attitudes: Implications for Child Outcomes After Separation and Divorce (2017).
Dr. Drozd was the founding editor of the peer-reviewed international Journal of Child Custody (2004-2013), is currently on the editorial board of FCR, has co-edited books on relocation, psychological testing, and child sexual abuse, and has written chapters on domestic violence, treatment of trauma, alienation, step-up parenting plans, and family therapy with families in which a child resists or refuses contact including a Professional Resource Press Book, Parenting Plan & Child Custody Evaluations: Using Decision Trees to Increase Evaluator Competence & Avoid Preventable Errors (2013) and Oxford University Press books, Parenting Evaluations: Applied Research for Family Court (2012 & 2016). She received the Association of Family and Conciliation Court’s John E. Van Duzer distinguished service award in 2013.
Amy Armstrong, LISW, Camp Training Staff
As a family therapist, parent educator, mediator, certified parent coach®, parenting coordinator, and divorce coach in Collaborative Law cases, Amy Armstrong has dedicated her career to the productive resolution of family conflict. Ms. Armstrong opened The Center for Family Resolution in central Ohio to provide interventions which empower moms and dads to navigate their family conflicts effectively. Through her work with hundreds of families, Ms. Armstrong demonstrates that self-awareness and skillful communication turn conflict into an opportunity for transformation and enduring resolution. As a graduate of Miami University of Ohio and The Ohio State University Masters in Social Work, Ms. Armstrong is committed to on-going professional education and provides high-level trainings for practitioners including advanced mediation trainings, advanced parenting coordination trainings, and parent coaching trainings. Ms. Armstrong is a frequent speaker at the Supreme Court of Ohio and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. She is past president of the Central Ohio Academy of Collaborative Divorce Professionals, as well as past president and inaugural Board member of the Ohio Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.Ms. Armstrong has served on the clinical team for Overcoming Barriers Family Camps since 2014, as a clinician and member of the training team.
